Privacy Policy

Tyne (“we”, “us”) provides a referral program for online stores. When a customer of a store running Tyne completes a purchase, they may enroll as an “advocate” and receive a personal referral link to share. Friends who use that link receive a discount, and the advocate earns a reward on resulting sales. This policy explains what data we process and why.
What we collect
- Advocate details. When a customer enrolls, we store their email address, first name (if provided), the store they enrolled with, and the referral code we generate for them.
- Order & conversion data. When a referred order is paid, the store sends us the order identifier, order value, and the discount code used — via a verified Shopify webhook — so we can attribute the referral and calculate rewards.
- Payout details. To pay an advocate, the store may send the advocate’s name and email to a third-party payout provider (Tremendous, Inc.), which lets the advocate choose how to receive their reward (e.g. PayPal, Venmo, bank transfer, or gift card). Any payout identifier we store ourselves is encrypted at rest.
- Store information. The merchant’s store identifier and install status.
We do not collect payment card details, and we set no advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
- To create and serve referral links and discount codes.
- To attribute referred orders and calculate advocate rewards and our commission.
- To enable merchants to pay their advocates.
We do not sell personal data.
How we protect it
- Payout identifiers are encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM).
- Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and access is limited to operating the service.
Your rights & how to opt out
Customers may request access to, or deletion of, the personal data we hold. Shopify’s mandatory privacy webhooks are honoured: a deletion request erases the advocate’s personal details while retaining anonymized financial records as required for accounting. Data retention
We retain enrollment and conversion records for as long as needed to operate the service and meet legal/accounting obligations, after which personal details are removed or anonymized.
